Karlis Brauns is rejoining Panthers Wrocław, ready to strengthen the team for the upcoming season. With experience and determination for the future, he's looking forward to the challenges that 2025 will bring.
Karlis, first of all I would like to say: Welcome back home? How do you feel becoming a Panther once again?
Thank you! Well, in many ways this feels for one like coming back home as it’s a city that both feels like home every time I come here and welcomed me last time. Secondly, our first year in ELF we had a great run, cut short by an unfortunate last play in the playoffs. With what has been set up for 2025, I cannot wait to work for a deeper postseason run!
It’s going to be another season in the ELF for you. What did you learn about the game during those years?
That is a very broad question and I could probably write an essay, if not more, on that. But one important point is that it is critical for the whole squad—players, coaches, management, and fans—to work towards the same goal in many ways. That is what I see from the Panthers so far in preparation for 2025.
We probably know the answer, but we need to hear this - what can your teammates and fans expect?
I am hungry, I’ll do my best, have fun, and do it my style.
You already know many of the players, you met Coach Kuligowski, what are your expectations this year?
When thinking about making a move this year, a team that is building to compete was very important for me, but more importantly, it was having a dedicated, serious defense. I know many of the Polish guys and quite a few of the “imports.” Great impression on Coach Kuligowski so far. I expect to win.
How is the offseason going - what are your main goals for the upcoming weeks and months?
It’s going very well. This past season, I was very lucky to avoid even small injuries, so I could hit the ground running with the offseason preparation. I approach it differently every offseason, building on previous experience. This offseason, the name of the game is power.
