Robin Merjenburgh Joins Panthers Wrocław as Tight End

Merjenburgh’s versatility and hybrid capabilities make him an excellent addition to the dynamic playing style Panthers are set to deliver this season. Here’s what he shared about joining the team and his vision for the future.

 Robin, what made you decide to join Panthers Wrocław, and what attracted you the most about our team?

The potential that the Panthers have at competing for a championship this year is real. After being a stable organization for the past years, it is time to show where the Panthers really belong. With Coach Stud at the helm of the offense, it is going to be an exciting dynamic offense that will be attractive to watch!

As a player with impressive physical attributes, how does your physicality influence your play at the tight end position?

A hybrid position as the Tight End requires you to be strong enough to block people heavier than you, as well as being fast enough to outrun defenders and catch balls. I just do my job with 110% effort, being prepared mentally before the practices and games. Knowing what to do against your opponents makes it much easier to play physical.

You have experience with various European teams. What aspects of your career do you consider key to helping you play for Panthers Wrocław?

Being part of six different organizations, including the Dutch national team, you see many similar struggles. Whether you have success or have trouble staying afloat, we are a team, and we are in it for the long run. Sometimes things don't go your way, it's up to us how we respond and handle adversity. I will work to support all my teammates at the Panthers in achieving all the success we want.

What experience from your previous teams will help you collaborate better with our quarterbacks?

I've been part of several dynamic offenses so far. Seeing DJ's film makes me certain that we fit perfectly in the same offensive scheme. Being familiar with Coach Stud's philosophy, I will be able to seamlessly follow on where we left off last year.

What specific skills do you want to develop in order to fully utilize the potential of Panthers' offense?

It's the complete package. Physically and mentally I know I have everything under control. Being able to positively influence the people around me will be key in bringing success to the team.

What role do you see for yourself in the upcoming season? What goals have you set for yourself this year, both individually and for the team?

I am an ambitious person and do not settle for the bare minimum. Personally, I want to be the best teammate I can be. Team-wise, my goal is to be better each week. Improvement is addictive and will lead to great results.

What would you like to share with your teammates, and how do you plan to influence the atmosphere in the locker room?

I'm not the most talkative person in the locker room. I believe actions speak louder than words. But don't worry, once the final whistle is blown and we have a win, you will see the smile on my face from miles away!

What aspects of football excite you the most, and what keeps you striving to develop as a player?

I always tell my friends and family this: people often overlook the tactical part of football. Apart from the physical in the game, being smarter than the opponent gives you an edge every time. As teams change, so does your game plan. This will allow any player to continuously develop.

Finally, what would you like to say to Panthers Nation? What can they expect from your game in the upcoming season?

Can't wait to meet everyone. Let's fill up the Stadion Olimpijski stands every game, just like you did last year with 15,000 people in the Tarczynski Arena. This will be my best year yet, and I'm excited to show out.
