Wide receiver Edu Pérez checks in in Wrocław!

Offense reinforcement straight from Spain! 23-year-old wide receiver Edu Perez joins Panthers Wrocław.

Edu began his American football journey at the age of 14 in his hometown of Alicante. After his junior years with the Alicante Sharks, aiming to constantly raise the bar, he moved to the Murcia Cobras to make his debut in the Spanish first division. At 19, he relocated to Madrid, where he spent three years representing Osos Rivas. His breakthrough came in 2023 when he signed with the Barcelona Dragons, launching his professional career. He spent the last two seasons with the Madrid Bravos, playing primarily as a wide receiver, though he also successfully supported the team as a running back.

Before signing with the Panthers Wrocław, had you ever visited Poland or heard much about the country?

I've never been in Poland but I've only heard good things about Wroclaw. Everyone is telling me that it is a very beautiful city and full of nice people. I really want to get there and be able to walk the streets of the city and eat in the best restaurants.

How would you describe yourself as a wide receiver, and what do you consider to be your greatest strengths on the field?

I think I'm a pretty tough guy and that “never give up” mentality defines me. My greatest strength is that I can play in any skill position of the offense. I can line up in the slot and be a possession receiver, take screens and run thru tackles and also line up outside and be a vertical threat. I love to block for my teammates too and play special teams, specially gunner.

Have you had the opportunity to speak with the Offensive Coordinator yet regarding your specific role within the team?

I haven’t talked specifically about my role but he knows that I can play wherever he needs me and do whatever he needs me to do for the successful of the team. I want to score points but I am absolutely committed to doing the "hidden work" to be 1-0 every week.

You have a reputation as the kind of player every team wants to have-not just for your performance on the pitch, but for how quickly you build relationships. Can you tell us what your adaptation process looks like? Is it just natural instinct, or do you have a specific tactic for winning over a team so fast?

I really think personal relationships are the most important thing in life and I like to create a work environment where everyone feels comfortable with me and good with each others. Laughter and being kind is the quickest way to connect with someone. The years of football aren’t forever and not only I like to practice and play, I like to have fun and have a good time with my teammates. I believe that this way of being I am able to transfer it to my coaches and to the entire organization, being an important piece of the team's chemistry.

What goals have you set for yourself for the upcoming 2026 AFLE season?

I have set very high expectations for this season. First of all, I think the team we are building can get to the Championship and win it. In addition to being a champion, I would like to improve as a player and feel that this season I’m better than the last one, fixing my mistakes and improving my skills.

What message would you like to send to the Panthers fans before the season kicks off?

We are building a competitive team capable of reaching the highest level in Europe to give them the best possible show. Your support is a great and a necessary help for this season. We are waiting for you all on the field for the first home game. Go Panthers!
