Malte Hrabak joins the offensive line of Panthers Wrocław

Malte Hrabak is set to bolster the offensive line of Panthers Wrocław. The German athlete joins the team competing in the AFLE - The League Europe.

Malte began his American football journey in 2019 with the Braunschweig Lions II. Before committing to football, he played handball. In 2022, he joined the ranks of Germany's most successful team, the New Yorker Lions Braunschweig, where he played for three seasons.

During that time, he not only developed his athletic skills but also emerged as a leader, serving as the team captain. Malte is an incredibly versatile player, capable of playing both at guard and tackle. Such flexibility in the offensive line will be a massive asset in Coach Troy Tomlin’s system.

It is well known that you have collaborated with Troy Tomlin for years. How much did the fact that Coach Tomlin took over the offensive line in Wrocław influence your decision to transfer?

Me and Coach Tomlin worked together now for 4 Seasons and we stayed in contact after he moved to Wroclaw. To be honest, moving to Wroclaw and playing for the Panthers was a match. I received a job offer in Germany for later that year and the same day me and coach Tomlin were talking and he asked if it might be possible to do a move.

You are characterized by great versatility, being able to play both Guard and Tackle. In which position do you feel most comfortable, and where will the fans see you most often in the upcoming season?

I used to play Guard but due to injuries I had to play the Tackle position last season in Braunschweig and felt quite comfortable. But in the end, I will play wherever the Team needs me and I hope the fans will see me most on the side of the winning team.

The offensive line is the heart of the team, requiring perfect synchronization. How quickly, in your opinion, will you be able to build chemistry with your new teammates in Wrocław to effectively protect the quarterback?

I guess we already started to create a bond in the oline room. My first encounter with all the guys was super enjoyable and they seem to be very likeable. Also Amos and I played together in `22 and ever since stayed in contact.

You emphasize in interviews that you are the type of leader who „leads by example” rather than through speeches. How do you intend to introduce this work ethic into the Panthers' locker room?

That means for me: show up on time and be prepared.

Wrocław is a city that lives and breathes American football. Have you had the chance to visit the capital of Lower Silesia before, or have you sought opinions from friends on the field about what to expect from the organization and the atmosphere at the Olympic Stadium?

I'm so excited for the atmosphere here, I have never been to Wroclaw before, I just heard stories but none of them were bad. I'm very lucky because my friends and family at home are very supportive and they are also very excited to witness a gameday in the capital of Lower Silesia.

Wrocław fans appreciate players who leave their hearts on the field. What would you like to say to the Panthers fans ahead of your debut in the blue and black colors?

I'll give everything on the field - less talking, more doing. I'm excited to get started and can't wait to play for you.
