Top wide receiver Juan Flores-Calderón joins Panthers Wrocław. The Spanish playmaker joins an exceptionally strong receiving corps, bolstering the Lower Silesian squad for the upcoming 2026 season in AFLE - The League Europe.
The 22-year-old began his American football journey in Italy with Seamen Milano, representing them from 2018 to 2024. His immense talent was quickly recognized across Europe, culminating in the prestigious Rookie of the Year award during his debut season in the European League of Football in 2023. After another successful year competing at the European level with the Milanese side, he decided to take his talents to the Madrid Bravos. Despite fierce competition within the receiving corps of the capital city club, Flores-Calderón enjoyed a standout 2025 season, recording 35 receptions and an impressive 11 touchdowns.
You’ve already played in Italy and Spain, and now the time has come for Poland. Have you had a chance to learn anything about our country or Wrocław itself yet?
Never had the chance to be in Wroclaw, I’ve been following the team this past seasons and the only thing I heard about the city is that their are some dwarfs statues spread all over the city.
In 2023, you took home the “Rookie of the Year” award, and every following season has only confirmed your immense skills. Over these three years in the ELF, how has your approach to reading the game and your release techniques against cornerbacks evolved?
I always said this sport is possible if everyone on the team is on the same page. Being on the same page with the OC, QB and the other skills is very important. I like to prepare every game the best I can, watching film and knowing who I’m facing and what to expect.
Your stats from last season - 11 touchdowns on 35 catches - are truly impressive. Could you share the secret behind your effectiveness in 1-on-1 matchups and how you manage to turn touches into points so consistently?
Preparing during the off-season working out and running track give me the chance to perform the best I can during the season. I love to run deep, having a great connection with the QB and the trust of your OC is key to play my best football.
What is your mindset heading into the 2026 season with the Panthers Wrocław? Have you set specific statistical goals for yourself, or are you focused entirely on team success and fighting for the championship?
My goals for this season are the same I had every year, prepare as much as I can, getting to know everyone on the team and building a great connection, winning games and having fun.
Despite your young age, you already have vast experience on European fields. What advice would you give to the Panthers juniors who dream of making such a spectacular entrance into senior football as you did a few years ago?
The only advice I would tell them is just to keep having fun, and most importantly to keep putting in the work. If you do the right things, sooner or later you would be given the opportunity. And even when it happens, keep aiming for more and keep being hungry.
Finally, what would you like to say to the Panthers Wrocław fans who are eagerly awaiting your debut at the Olympic Stadium?
We are extremely excited as well, we will preparare as much as we can to try the give them the best product. It’ll be an incredible season, come watch the game because we need you.
