Torey Richardson officially joins the Panthers Wrocław roster - a versatile defensive back with extensive NCAA Division I experience.
Torey was born and raised in Texas. He began his career at Tomball Memorial High School as a quarterback before transitioning to the cornerback position. He started his collegiate journey at the University of Houston but later transferred to Blinn College (JUCO) in search of more playing time. His standout performances at the junior college level opened the doors to Division I football-first at UTEP and subsequently at Temple University. This wealth of experience from top-tier American programs is expected to be the key to shutting down the best wide receivers on European fields.
What convinced you to take the next step in your career specifically here in Wrocław?
I felt ready to take on the world and coming to Wroclaw felt like the right start in doing so. I have a good feeling about it!
You have experience playing at a high FBS level. How would you describe your playing style, and what can the fans expect from you on the field?
A Playmaking DB whose instincts take over and will lead to game changing plays in Wroclaw! I am very passionate about my team and fan base looking forward to my new family!
Your journey-from JUCO to the starting lineup in the FBS-was demanding. How did those experiences toughen your character on the field?
It definitely felt rewarding because of the journey but it showed me that hard work does pay off and motivated me to continue reaching for new heights in FBS and beyond!
You’re known for making clutch interceptions in the final minutes. Does that come down to your football IQ or an exceptional ability to handle pressure?
I’d say an even blend of both, my film study allows me to recognize certain team’s tendencies and react to them. Pressure makes diamonds, so I stay prepared for that big moment and shine!
Is your background as a QB an "ace up your sleeve"? Does it make it easier for you to anticipate the opponent’s next move?
Does it make it easier for you to anticipate the opponent’s next move?
Absolutely I’m great at manipulating the QB by making him think I’m doing something I’m not. Football is a mental game and a lot of them are easy to mess with!
The Panthers are aiming for the title. What is your personal "target" for this season - is it the stats or taking on a leadership role in the locker room?
Being a great teammate makes sure we’re always reminded of our title goals! Leading on and off the field and helping anyway I can! Individual success comes with completing
targets 1,2.
