Panthers Wrocław battle in a thrilling clash against European League of Football leaders Vienna Vikings

Panthers Wrocław put up an incredibly close fight against the top team in the European League of Football – the Vienna Vikings. Despite battling hard until the very last minutes, the Austrian hosts came away with a 50–36 victory.

Vienna leaders prevail once again
From the very start, the Wrocław side made things difficult for the Vienna Vikings, showing they had no intention of giving up the win easily. Throughout the game, both teams engaged in a fierce and evenly matched contest. Shining on the field was American wide receiver Darrell Stewart Jr., who recorded nine catches for 212 yards and two touchdowns. The Panthers’ running game also proved highly effective – quarterback DJ Irons and running back Dawid Brzozowski combined for 152 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

“From the beginning, we knew it was going to be a tough battle. We moved the ball effectively on offense, but the details decided the outcome. Our opponents made fewer mistakes in key moments, which allowed them to secure the win,”
commented Jakub Gajewski, offensive lineman for Panthers Wrocław.

It’s also worth mentioning an unusual play by AJ Wentland, the best defensive player in the European League of Football. In one sequence, he pulled off a 36-yard run, earning a first down for his team.

“The first half was very tough for us. The Vikings dictated the pace of the game, and we made mistakes that cost us points. But in the second half, we came out with renewed energy. We gained confidence, found our rhythm, and finally made things difficult for the Vikings’ offense. We’re happy we were able to bounce back after a poor start and prove we can compete with the best,”
said Szymon Romanowski, safety for Panthers Wrocław.

Craig Kuligowski’s team fought bravely until the very end and had their bright moments, but on this day, the Vienna Vikings were simply better.
