This coming Sunday, May 24th, the Panthers Wrocław football players will inaugurate a landmark season in the prestigious, international AFLE - The League Europe. For their opening challenge, the “Wrocław Panthers” face a thrilling showdown in the British capital against the London Warriors. The spectacle is set to begin at 1:00 PM local time, which translates to 2:00 PM for fans back home in Poland.
New League, Same Ambition
Since 2021, Panthers Wrocław have been the proud ambassadors of Poland on the international stage, establishing themselves as one of the strongest and most stable clubs on the Old Continent. Now, however, they face an even greater evolution.
The AFLE is a newly formed elite project featuring eight top-tier teams from seven different nations. Alongside Poland’s representatives, the league includes iconic brands such as the Vienna Vikings (Austria), Paris Lights (France), Alpine Rams (Switzerland), Firenze Red Lions (Italy), London Warriors (UK), and German powerhouses Rhein Fire and Berlin Thunder. With a 12-game regular season schedule, the Panthers are entering a grueling marathon against the absolute pinnacle of European American football.
Destination: London
In the season opener, the Panthers will cross swords with the London Warriors. While the Warriors have long dominated the British scene - winning multiple championships and earning a reputation as one of the most successful organizations in UK history - this match marks their official international debut.
„We are very excited to open our season vs the London Warriors. We expect a hard game in London. They are founded on a good traditional English football organization and have a good group of coaches. All the British players I have encountered in Europe either for or against us were athletic and very tough competitors. Above all I am excited to watch our guys play football!” - comments Dave Likins, Head Coach of Panthers Wrocław.
Despite the home-field advantage for the Brits, Panthers Wrocław enter the fray as the favorites. Their years of experience on international turf and their status as a European powerhouse are expected to be the deciding factors.
The Strongest Roster in History
Experts agree that this year's Panthers squad is the most formidable in the club's history. Following an aggressive off-season recruitment drive, the team has signed several top-tier international stars. This “explosive mix” of global talent and the elite of local Polish players is designed to dominate the AFLE.
„I think we have an excellent roster with a mix of imports and our local Polish players. Our pre-season preparation has been good and our players have worked diligently.” - adds Coach Likins.
All eyes will be on the quarterback position. Leading the Panthers' offense is the exceptionally gifted American playmaker, Jameson Wang. Wang brings an impressive pedigree to the field, having honed his craft with the Los Angeles Chargers under the guidance of Jim Harbaugh - one of the most charismatic and legendary coaches in football history.
„I know the team is really excited to kickoff the season May 24th. We have been working really hard, but most importantly we are ready to showcase our abilities in a competitive setting. We have been competing against each other this whole time, so it will be a good test to see how we do against another opponent. The preseason has been really good as I was able to get comfortable with Wrocław. Being able to get to know my teammates and get to work with them has been the best part about the preseason for me. In European football, it’s hard to build consistency and chemistry with coaches and players turning over every season. We made full use of the time we had in the preseason and we are ready to let it rip now. The Panthers team everyone will see for our season opener will be disciplined, focused and energetic.” - comments Jameson Wang, Quarterback of Panthers Wrocław.
The presence of such a leader on the field is a clear signal that the Panthers Wrocław are interested in nothing less than competing for the highest honors this season. They can take their first step on that journey this Sunday, May 24, in London. Meanwhile, the Wrocław fans will have the chance to see their team’s first home victory on Sunday, May 31, when they host the Vienna Vikings at the Olympic Stadium. Tickets for this matchup, as well as all other home games for the 2026 season, are already available on Eventim.
