Spanish reinforcement on defense! Jorge Hernández Jimenez joins Panthers Wrocław.

Spanish linebacker Jorge Hernández Jimenez joins Panthers Wrocław!

Jorge began his American football journey in 2014, joining the Terrassa Reds (Barcelona) while studying there. In the following years, he represented several other clubs competing in the Spanish league. His standout performances on the national stage earned him a call-up to the Spanish National Team. Over the last two seasons, he has competed in the European League of Football - first with the Barcelona Dragons and most recently with the Madrid Bravos.

It’s quite a unique story-at the time you signed with the Panthers, you were already living in Gdańsk. How did the idea of living in Poland come about even before joining the Wrocław team, and how are you finding everyday life here?

I met my Polish girlfriend in Tenerife, and after the pandemic, she had to return to Gdansk for work. Two years ago, after visiting the country numerous times, I decided to move in with her. Weather aside, Poland seems like a great country to live in, with incredible places and amazing cities to visit, and wonderful people.

What type of linebacker are you, and what do you consider to be your greatest strengths on the field? Do you feel more comfortable stopping the run, or do you prefer pass coverage and putting pressure on the quarterback?

I've always been a linebacker who specializes in stopping the run, but in recent years, thanks to incredible coaches, I've been able to improve my coverage skills and especially my pass rush.

Have you had the chance to speak with the head coach yet regarding your specific role in the Panthers’ system?

I've spoken with the HC and what's expected of me fits with the skills I've been developing professionally over the last years, so I'm very excited.

What goals have you set for yourself ahead of the upcoming 2026 AFLE season? Are you aiming for specific statistics, or are you focused solely on team success?

Individual stats are important for players, but in my opinion, they don't matter if they aren't accompanied by team success. Right now, my priority is helping the Panthers win every game by doing everything in my power.

What message would you like to send to the Panthers fans before the season kicks off? What can they expect from your defensive play in Wrocław?

I think Panthers fans should be as excited as I am. We're building towards a special year, and I believe the Panthers' games won't disappoint at all. As for me, you can expect the same level of commitment on the field as if I've always played here, running to the ball on every play and giving the team my all. I can't wait to see you all on the field and show you how a Spanish player fights.
