Young Panthers Wrocław Squad Falls 15–47 to Silesia Rebels Katowice at the Olympic Stadium
A valuable lesson from the experienced Katowice side
Coach Jakub Samel’s young charges fought bravely, but the team from Katowice proved too strong on the day. Although the opening stages offered hope—with our defense repelling the Rebels for nearly five minutes on their first possession—Silesia soon struck back. The offense scored quickly thanks to the ever-reliable Tomasz Burdziński. Fans at the Olympic Stadium witnessed a lightning-fast start from both teams, but with each passing minute the visitors’ advantage grew insurmountable. Their quarterback, Jeremaiah Tucker, was unstoppable—he crossed into our end zone five times, exploiting Panthers’ difficulties in containing the Rebels’ rushing attack. Despite the heavy defeat, this game provides priceless experience for our young players; for many, it was their first chance to face opposition of this caliber, and it will undoubtedly drive their football development forward.
“First and foremost, congratulations to Silesia Rebels. They played a fantastic game in all three phases and fully deserved this big win. From our side, we had a very poor offensive start and, defensively, we allowed too much in the second half—especially in the Rebels’ running game. Now we have two tough weeks of preparation ahead before facing the Jaguars. We’re still fighting for a playoff spot,”
– Jakub Samel, Head Coach, Panthers Wrocław
“It was a difficult game for the entire defense. We found ourselves in tough spots and made some mistakes on special teams, but that’s beside the point. As a defense, our job was to stop them—and we failed to do that,”
– Percy King, Panthers Wrocław Defensive Back
