In their third game of the AFLE - The League Europe season, Panthers Wrocław defeated the Paris Lights 22:14 on the road. The Wrocław team will play their next game on June 14th at the Tarczyński Arena. Tickets for the matchup against Berlin Thunder are already available on Eventim.
The Panthers Wrocław team secured a crucial away victory over the Paris Lights in a game played under torrential rain. From the very beginning, the Wrocław squad set a high tempo, fully controlling the pace of the game. Quarterback Jameson Wang put the visitors ahead with a spectacular 57-yard solo touchdown run. Juan Flores-Calderon scored the next touchdown, followed by another rushing touchdown from Wang. Despite the Panthers holding a 22:0 lead, the hosts managed to fight their way back. They scored their first points before halftime and cut the deficit to just a single possession after the break. Ultimately, the victory was sealed by an outstanding defensive performance, which repeatedly stopped the opponents' late-game surges.
„We are returning from Paris with a win. It’s even more satisfying because we enter next week with a 2-1 record, moving closer to our ultimate goal of winning every consecutive game. A strong first half allowed us to build a lead that we successfully maintained until the final whistle. Our defense played an excellent game. Aside from a few minor slips, the unit maintained a high level throughout the entire match, holding our opponents to just 14 points - a very impressive result in the context of the European league. Offensively, we looked great in the first half, but in the second, we lacked fluidity in moving the chains, especially in the running game. We were forced to adjust our game plan, which caused that part of the match to not go as expected. We are drawing conclusions and moving forward. On the bright side, we eliminated the penalties and infractions that plagued us against Vienna. However, we know we have work to do on special teams, as their mistakes forced the defense to defend a short field. Up next is film study and implementing adjustments during practice. From now on, we are fully focused on preparing for our home game against Berlin Thunder in Wrocław.” - comments Łukasz Kołodziejczyk, Running Backs Coach, Panthers Wrocław
„Saturday’s game against Paris ended in a victory for us, but honestly, we aren't entirely satisfied with the performance. We made too many simple mistakes that we must avoid at this level. We’re happy with the win, but we know we still have a lot to improve - both as a team and individually. Now we are focusing on the next game against Berlin, and we will definitely be better prepared for it. See you at the Tarczyński Arena. Go Panthers!” - adds Jakub Gajewski, Offensive Lineman, Panthers Wrocław
