Young Panthers Wrocław Squad Victorious in Lower Silesian Derby

The young Panthers Wrocław team, competing in the Polish Football League, delivered an outstanding performance in Kąty Wrocławskie and earned a well-deserved 43–29 victory over the local Jaguars.

Victory in the Derby Clash

The young Panthers squad played an almost flawless game against the experienced Jaguars Kąty Wrocławskie team. The game started cautiously, with both sides making simple mistakes, but the pace picked up with every play.

Panthers quarterback Joshua Carthwright took matters into his own hands. The American QB threw for three touchdowns and showcased his running skills as well, scoring three rushing touchdowns. Once again, wide receiver Tomasz Burdziński impressed with his performance. The Polish receiver caught two touchdown passes, including a spectacular 95-yard score.

In addition to the smoothly operating offense, the defense and special teams also delivered a tremendous effort. Players from these units were extremely alert, stopping the opponents during a fake punt attempt and an onside kick. All the young Panthers players deserve high praise for defeating a much more experienced team.

“I think it was a great and exciting game for the fans, with interesting plays both on the ground and through the air. Full credit to the Jaguars—they're having a fantastic season and showed in this match that they will definitely be contenders in the playoffs. For us, the most important thing was winning this game, and now we're fighting for a chance to host a playoff game at home. The odds are good. We’re also very happy to see so many of our young players stepping up. It’s not just the familiar names—there are also many newcomers and recent recruits, like Wiktor Lis. These are players who, just six months ago, had no idea what American football was. Their progress is what makes us the proudest,” commented Jakub Samel, head coach of Panthers Wrocław.

Next Sunday, June 29, Panthers Wrocław will play their final game of the 2025 Polish Football League regular season. Jakub Samel’s squad will face Dukes Ząbki on the road.
