Devan Burrell is the next player we will see in the Panthers' colors in the 2024 season!

The American Defensive Back was one of the most dynamic players in our defense last season, playing Cornerback, Safety and Returner in Panthers Special Teams. Devan joined Panthers after spending the 2023 season representing Leipzig Kings, and then transferring to the Milano Seamen.

Burrell finished the 2024 season with 58 tackles, two interceptions, 892 yards on special teams, and a total of four touchdowns. He was awarded the 1st All-Star title and received the individual award for Special Teams Player of the Year.

Dev - it’s great to have you back in Wroclaw! How will you remember the first season with the Panthers?

I’ll remember the first season as hard, gritty and unwavering with our new Head Coach Kool. I learned how to really be persistent in the way I think and pick up my teammates to be a leader. 

After a year of living in Wroclaw you know the city to some extent - what are your impressions? Is there something that surprised you or you still can’t get used to?

My first impression was how cold it gets here in the winter haha. But honestly it’s a great city and a beautiful place to visit or live. Not much surprised me but how welcoming the Polish culture is I didn't think it would be that way. 

Safe to say, our defense was one of the most dominant in the League - what were the key factors that determined our game in 2024?

Coach Kool!! Determination and consistency he preached to the defense helped us be dominant the second half of the season. It was like a light switch turned on once he took over and we never looked back since. 

You were named the 2024 Special Teams Player of the Year as well as 1st Team All-Star returner - what’s the plan for 2025? 

Yes I’m thankful for the opportunity with my teammates and them helping me do that. Plans for 2025 is to show the ELF I'm the best player Europe will ever see I am going to make a run at that MVP and do everything it takes to win a championship for the Wrocław Panthers. I want it all. I want to be great. Why not?

How is the offseason going - what are your main goals for the upcoming weeks? 

Offseason is going well. Back in the gym with EuroAthletes academy getting stronger and faster working on all my mechanics so I can have an MVP year and take it home that’s all I think about now while I work out. Be the best. Outwork everyone.
