The Panthers Wrocław footballers fought valiantly until the final seconds of the game, but this time they had to acknowledge their opponent’s superiority. The Wrocław side fell 21–40 to Nordic Storm at the Olympic Stadium. Craig Kuligowski’s men will return to European League of Football action in two weeks, when they host the Prague Lions in front of their home crowd on Sunday, June 8.
A tough match for Panthers Wrocław
The clash between Panthers Wrocław and Nordic Storm at the Olympic Stadium was the second game of this year’s European League of Football season. Both the Wrocławians and their Scandinavian visitors had won their opening fixtures, so they went into this meeting as undefeated teams. The visitors got off to a better start, scoring a touchdown on their very first possession. They quickly took the lead and never relinquished it. Despite the convincing win, Storm had to sweat at one point, as in the third quarter the Wrocław players closed the gap to just six points. Fans in the stands that day believed the Panthers could turn the tide, but the Scandinavian side struck back decisively, adding further touchdowns. Storm were simply too strong on the day, playing at a very high level both offensively and defensively.
“Nordic Storm were the better team. They had a balanced attack, made smart defensive reads, and on our side we lacked the quality to stop them and the consistency in the red zone. We have a bye week ahead, so we’ll focus on reviewing the film to improve our play before the game against the Prague Lions,” commented Craig Kuligowski, head coach of Panthers Wrocław.
“Despite the loss, I’m proud of the guys. We fought through all four quarters. We’ll watch the tape, draw our conclusions, and fix our mistakes. We’ll come back stronger – I know it,” added AJ Wentland, linebacker for Panthers Wrocław.
Next game in two weeks
Panthers Wrocław will play their next match in two weeks. On Sunday, June 8 at 1:00 PM at the Olympic Stadium, Wrocław’s team will battle the Czech side Prague Lions. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster.
