Road loss for Panthers Wrocław. Rhein Fire celebrate a home victory.

The Panthers Wrocław American football players return from Duisburg empty-handed. The Wrocław team had to acknowledge the superiority of the local Rhein Fire, who triumphed in front of their home crowd with a 48-7 victory.

The match started as a very tight affair. The hosts were the first to put points on the board, but the visitors from Wrocław quickly hit back with a touchdown from Jameson Wang. The American quarterback ran the ball into the opponents' end zone himself. However, as time went on, Rhein Fire began to take control, ultimately securing a convincing win. Although the final score does not fully reflect the balance of play, the Panthers’ coaching staff and players already know what needs to be improved to avoid similar mistakes in the decisive phase of the season.

„They got after us pretty good. On our side of the ball, I kind of lay the blame on myself. I'm not one of the guys who's gonna come on and talk about what player did this wrong and what player did that wrong. I put them all out there, and defensively, I think I overcoached, I overthought it. We had a long week, and I had a game plan that I really, really liked. And it was an outlier of what we normally do, and to me, that was a mistake. So yeah, if I'm displeased with one person on this trip, it's myself, because I'm responsible. I'm the one person responsible for winning or losing. I did see some guys make some plays and get some hits on them in the second half, so I was happy with that. Like I said, I love the guys on this team. That's why I'm back here. And like I said, this obviously was not our best day. If we play these guys again, I believe we'll play much better.” - comments Dave Likins, head coach of Panthers Wrocław

The Panthers will play their next game this coming Sunday, July 19th. They will host the Italian team, Firenze Red Lions, at the Olympic Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 PM, and tickets are already available on the Eventim platform.
