Panthers Wrocław U20 win their 2026 season opener!

The Panthers Wrocław U20 American football team got their 2026 season off to a fantastic start. In their opening game, the Wrocław side crushed the Silesia Rebels Katowice 38-6 away from home.

The visitors dominated their rivals right from the opening minutes. Head coach Miłosz Maćków's team consistently executed their game plan on both offense and defense, building a commanding 35-0 lead by halftime. Touchdowns were scored by Maciej Banaszewski, Wojciech Rybicki, Szymon Węgier, Cezary Sadowski, and Oskar Cygan, while Maksymilian Cybula stood out on defense with a valuable interception.

In the second half, Piotr Paliński sealed the victory with a successful field goal, bringing his total contribution for the game to 8 points.

„We are very proud of the boys and how we started the season. Winning the junior season opener is certainly gratifying, but the development of our young players remains our top priority. Naturally, there were mistakes that we will work on in the coming weeks to showcase an even higher level of football. The game was also a great opportunity to give more playing time to our second-string players. We are glad we could utilize a deeper depth chart and allow the younger players to gain valuable experience.” - said Jakub Wąsiel, wide receivers coach for Panthers Wrocław U20.

Franciszek Turłowicz earned special recognition. Thanks to an outstanding performance on both offense and defense, he was named the Most Valuable Player of the game.

„First of all, we would like to thank the Silesia Rebels for a great game and organization. We are delighted with the victory, which will give us a lot of momentum heading into our upcoming preparations. Both our offense and defense put on a strong showing. It is also very pleasing that younger players had the chance to get some reps on the field. Despite the win, we made quite a few mistakes that we will work on in the weeks ahead.” - added MVP Franciszek Turłowicz.

Following their season opener in Katowice, the Wrocław team faces another road trip - on September 27, they will take on the Kraków Kings in Lesser Poland. Local fans will have to wait until October for home action, when the Panthers play two games at the Olympic Stadium: hosting the Hunters Tarnów on October 4, and facing the Tychy Falcons on October 18.
