Panthers Wrocław have advanced to the grand finale of the Polish Football League. Playing in front of their home crowd in the semifinal, the „Panthers” defeated Silesia Rebels Katowice 55-34. Polish Bowl XXI will take place on July 26th in Wrocław, and tickets are already available on the Eventim platform.
While playoff games are known for their unpredictability, this match was an exception. From the very first minutes, the Wrocław team dominated their rivals from Katowice, fully controlling the tempo of the game. On the opening offensive drive, quarterback Re-al Mitchell put the Panthers ahead with a spectacular solo touchdown run - a lead the hosts never relinquished. The American quarterback added another rushing touchdown in the second half, but this game was fueled by a true team effort.
Running back Krystian Stępczak had an outstanding game, finding the end zone four times, while tight end Hubert Frej scored twice. While the offense played a phenomenal game, the defense also stepped up when it mattered most. The turning point was an interception by Alex Okrasa late in the first half - the subsequent touchdown allowed Wrocław to pull ahead by a comfortable two-possession lead.
„It was a very physical and spectacular game. Despite dealing with many injuries, the Rebels fought until the very end on every single snap. On our end, I'm glad we controlled the game from start to finish and executed our game plan very well, especially on offense. Now, we have an intense two weeks of work and preparation for the Polish Bowl ahead of us.“ - comments Jakub Samel, head coach of Panthers Wrocław
„This third game against Silesia perfectly illustrates our journey. The first game was a major test - we had to build chemistry with a new quarterback, find our rhythm, and see how everyone performs under real game-day pressure. The second game showed what we're truly capable of once we had time to sync up and understand each other better on the field. This third matchup simply confirmed it. It proved our great form and showed how much we've grown as a team since the start of the season. This is the result of the guys' incredible dedication during practice, our shared mindset, and our ultimate goal of winning the Polish Championship. Credit also goes to the coaching staff, especially Coach Samel, who put together a great game plan. Coach gives us the right tools, but in the end, we as players have to go out there and execute. Now we're in sync, fully executing our assignments, and you can see what this team is capable of. We have just one final test ahead of us - defeat the Warsaw Eagles and win the championship.“ - adds Krystian Stępczak, running back of Panthers Wrocław
